My wife and I spent a lot of money on our kitchen…not as much as some people, but it was a chunk of money. And it gives me pennies back every day!
See, before, when I had that “sin of a kitchen” (direct quote from former owner of the house) cooking was hard, cleaning was hard and I – not a fan of hard – did as little of both as I could. We invested in Blue Apron to keep us from eating out (and it has been wonderful), but I wouldn’t say I was TRYING to find and make stuff that could be boxed up and taken into work.
Why would I do that to myself? More dishes to do from the making of stuff? And even MORE from the taking of stuff? No…no…no.
Now, yes! Yes! Yes!
See, with the dishwasher I’ve got the chance to do stuff like make my own hamburger helper (which was amazing and I will post the recipe once I get it nailed down and perfect – see measuring the first time is always a challenge for me, but I promise I’ll measure next time). OMG, just talking about that stuff makes me hungry for more…it is perfect in the winter.
OR I could make yummy/funeral potatoes, which I promise I will post as well (again, gotta make it a few more times, I wanna try different styles of potato shapes).
And then I just box the above yummy, lovely goodness in Rubbermaid and send it to work.
Since our kitchen, actually, since our dishwasher has been operational I have not purchased a single lunch at work. And it hasn’t been hard! I make a double batch of whatever I’m eating for dinner and package up the rest before I go to bed. Done and dusted.
Then again, having the new kitchen and the attendant organization inherent in new kitchens makes that super easy for me…but I promise I’ll start posting some easy peasy lunch ideas as soon as I get them perfected.
Stay tuned!
