NEW KITCHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a new kitchen.

I HAVE A NEW KITCHEN!

No, seriously…we have got to talk about the old kitchen.  Think of it like this:  there is a room, it is a rectangle but not huge.  You then stuff all the largest appliances in the house in that room BUT NOT A DISHWASHER!  NEVER A DISHWASHER!  It quickly goes from a nice rectangle room to a galley kitchen.  But that’s okay, you’ve got a pantry off the kitchen…not huge, but a decent size and there is lots of stuff you can put in there.

THEN you take the small hot water heater and the small HVAC that originally came with the house and throw them out.  Because who the HELL has a hot water heater that only heats like 2 gallons of water at a time? And that blower is likely older than your long dead grandma (may she always rest in peace, especially if she gave you the love of cooking).  So, you throw them out AND THEN you move the new MASSIVE replacements INTO the pantry off the kitchen…and just for giggles, you put a stackable washer and dryer in there too.  I mean, hey, why not?

SO now you have a galley kitchen and a pantry that you can’t use for anything but putting laundry detergent in.

And you LOVE to cook…and the older you get the more you LOVE to cook.

Well, my dears, that is hell on earth and I lived it for 5 years.

Anytime I wanted to cook ANYTHING I had to play the what if game:

WHAT IF I wanted to cook dinner?

Do I have dishes?

Are they clean?

Do I want to clean them?

WHAT IF I wanted to cook something fun?

Do I have room to roll out dough?

Can I make room?

Do we have any bins I can put stuff in to make room?

WHAT IF I had friends over?

WHY WOULD I DO THAT?  THERE IS NO WAY!!!!!

BUT NOW, darlings, NOW I have a new kitchen!

We took out the wall…we added a dishwasher…we increased the storage.

But most of all………………

I think we have created a monster.

I have not stopped cooking since it got finished.

The day it was declared done, I had no idea where any of my spices, rolling pin, baking dishes…(you get the idea) were AND YET I STILL MADE CINNAMON ROLLS!  I was that dedicated to breaking in the new kitchen – and I have not stopped.

I’ve made:

Chicken Primavera

Japanese Pan Noodles with Egg

Chocolate Cobbler (omg, so good!)

Magic Vanilla Custard Cake (omg, so bad!)

Spanish Rice

Hot Chocolate Mix

And this thing is EXACTLY 9 days old…and I’ve only had the dishwasher for 6 of those 9 days.

So yeah…it is a problem, but a very good one to have.

I love my new kitchen.
